The Mirror claim that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to sell striker Daniel Sturridge in the summer after conceding that his injuries and poor form mean that the club would be better off cashing in on the England striker. Klopp had recognised his huge talent and had hoped he would prove to be a valuable asset.
Instead, the German will look to re-invest the funds earned from his sale in bringing in another striker in the summer as the ex-Dortmund boss tracks a number of ‘goal-getters’ who could be a better fit for his 4-3-3 system.
In this transfer window, the Liverpool Echo claim that the Reds will not make any signings in the January transfer window, with the only possible deal being a potential exit for Mamadou Sakho as the club desperately seek to offload the Frenchman. A loan move for youngster Connor Randall is also possible.
The Reds have been linked with a number of wingers, left backs and strikers in recent weeks but no deals have come to fruition and it now seems that they won’t either, with Jurgen Klopp reluctant to disrupt his squad mid-season despite their drop in form this month with victory over Plymouth Argyle their only win in 2017.
The Echo also rubbished rumours from an unreliable source that the club were prepared to make a £26.5 million move for Leandro Paredes before the window closes. They in fact claim that the Roma midfielder is not a target either in the short term or the long term.
It seems that Klopp is happy with his midfield options and has rotated his first choice midfield three throughout the season, with Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Georgino Wijnaldum and Lucas Leiva among those to feature in the Premier League.
