Roberto Firmino was the talk of the town for Liverpool last night and his teammate, Thiago Alcantara, was full of praise for him following their win at Manchester United.
Firmino notched his first goals in 16 games with a double at Old Trafford. The Brazilian headed home from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross before turning home a spill from Dean Henderson to make it 3-1.
It was a welcome return to form for Firmino. Jurgen Klopp was delighted with his man following the game and Firmino being back among the goals is a huge boost for the Reds.

And speaking to the official Liverpool website following the game with United, Thiago was also quick to praise Firmino’s contribution.
“He’s a very important player for us. I think he’s the least-selfish striker I’ve ever seen in my life because he always tries to reach the best option for his teammates, but also he’s a great goalscorer,” Thiago commented.
Firmino is yet to hit double figures this season but could do so in the coming weeks. The Reds are still in the mix to get Champions League football, albeit they need a favour from Spurs.
TBR View: Firmino back to his best and Thiago getting there too
Thiago has taken a while to settle while Firmino has been out of touch. But both looked near their best last night and that can only be a massive plus for the Reds.
Firmino’s movement, selfless running and, crucially, finishing touch, proved vital last night. If he can get into those double figures in the next few games, then Liverpool might just sneak that Champions League place after all.
