Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been in stunning form for Liverpool since returning to Jurgen Klopp’s side from injury and it has seen him recalled to the England side – where he has teased Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on Instagram.
The 26-year-old has clocked up 14 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season – starting seven games and coming off the bench a further seven times. He has scored four goals, all coming in his last three starts.
Indeed, the former Arsenal and Southampton star found the back of the net three times in two games against Belgian side Genk. He also scored a stunning effort against Arsenal in the crazy 5-5 penalty-shootout win in the Carabao Cup.
Gareth Southgate has opted to recall Oxlade-Chamberlain to the side and the Liverpool midfielder poked fun at Merseyside rivals’ Everton goalkeeper Pickford – with a picture that showed the stopper playing outfield.
England take on Montenegro at Wembley on Thursday night before jetting off to Kosovo ahead of Sunday’s clash, with a point needed to qualify for Euro 2020 next summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will be looking to win just his second England cap since March 2018, after appearing as a substitute at Wembley against Bulgaria back in September – a match which resulted in a 4-0 win.
