Some fans think ‘incredible’ £35m midfielder is off amid Liverpool links

Liverpool have been linked with Youri Tielemans in recent months.

90Min reported in October that the Reds were eyeing the Leicester and Belgium midfielder.

Liverpool appear to have competition for Tielemans’ services, however.

As well as the Anfield outfit, the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly eyeing the 24-year-old.

Liverpool could do with bolstering their midfield ranks, and a player of Tielemans’ calibre would be a good shout.

In October, Brendan Rodgers deemed him “an incredible professional” with the mindset “to work at the highest level”.

And Liverpool are certainly right up there, looking back to their destructive best this term.

Meanwhile, Tielemans’ Leicester contract runs until the summer of 2023 and he’s yet to renew it.

Now, some fans of the 2016 Premier League champions feel their £35million star is all-but off next year.

On Thursday night, the Foxes lost 3-2 to Napoli in the Europa League.

The result knocked them out of the competition, and Conference League football now beckons.

In addition, Leicester sit 11th in the Premier League table.

Barring a big turnaround, a top-four finish and Champions League football looks out of their reach once again.

This, combined with Tielemans’ apparent lack of desire in penning a new contract, could well mean he’s off in 2022.
