To say Liverpool need an injection of new blood this summer would be an understatement, given their dramatic drop in form during this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have given their title up with a bit of a whimper. Sure, big injuries to the likes of Van Dijk, Gomez, and Henderson haven’t helped them at times. But in attacking areas, the Reds have also struggled.
The likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are not operating anywhere near their best, while Roberto Firmino continues to struggle for regular goals.
A returning Diogo Jota should give the Reds a boost, but it’s a fair comment to make to say they could do with landing some new attacking players this summer. And with Wolves now reportedly willing to sell Adama Traore, surely Liverpool have to rekindle their interest?
Pace and power that Liverpool need
The Daily Mail claims Wolves will now listen to offers for Traore. Remarkably, he’s not registered a goal or assist this season (at the time of writing) but remains a big threat.
Interestingly, it is claimed Wolves are now hoping for around £45m for their man. That’s a huge chunk off the propsed fee they wanted in the summer, when the £70m figure was the most widely touted.
Surely, then, Liverpool have to be weighing up another move? It was only claimed back in January that both Liverpool and City were keen on Traore, so their interest won’t have gone away completely.
Liverpool need a fresh injection. Traore could give them that. His pace, power, and energy in wide areas can rub off on the rest of the team.
So in a time when the Reds need to seriously address a few big positions this summer, Adama Traore might well be the man to take them back up a notch and into the title picture in 21/22.
