Liverpool have been linked with a move for Ismaila Sarr this summer, according to the Watford Observer. Jurgen Klopp has identified the wide player has someone who could bolster his ranks.
It is thought that the Hornets will demand £40 million for the winger who only signed from Rennes last summer for a club-record fee.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a decent maiden campaign in the Premier League. scoring six goals and registering six assists.
Watford did suffer relegation though and now could be an opportunistic time for Liverpool to pounce for the youngster.
Sarr is good friends with Sadio Mane, who interestingly has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona (TuttoMercatoWeb).
Both players came through the same academy set-up in Senegal under the influence of Mady Toure. Some comments from him during a January 2020 interview make for interesting reading.
He told The Guardian: “Ismaila is a little like Cristiano Ronaldo, who is his idol. They have a similar way of playing.
“He will even win a Ballon d’Or too. He is fast, powerful and now he has his bearings he will become one of the best in the world.”
Now looks like the perfect time for Liverpool to sign Sarr and he could thrive with better players around him.
He’d provide Liverpool with an upgrade on players like Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana who acted as a backup during 2019/20.
Sarr boasts the sort of determination qualities that would see him pile the pressure on Mane and Mo Salah for a place in the team.
He is frighteningly quick, skilful and also capable of weighing in with goals and assists. If in the unlikely event Mane was to leave Liverpool would also have themselves a trusty contingency plan in reserve.
Sarr would be capable of lighting up Anfield with his speed and tricky and the club should act quickly to sign him this summer.
