According to a report by The Daily Mail, Liverpool could sell Xherdan Shaqiri one year after signing him from Stoke City.

The Switzerland international joined Liverpool last summer. But he has mainly been used as an impact substitute this season.

Shaqiri has played his part in some important moments for Liverpool. These include scoring twice against Manchester United at Old Trafford and providing the assist for Divock Origi against Newcastle United which took the title race into the final day.

But Jurgen Klopp has been reluctant to use the diminutive left-footed playmaker too often. And consequently, he could be axed this summer.

But Shaqiri’s potential exit could open up an avenue of opportunity for another Liverpool player. Harry Wilson might step into Shaqiri’s shoes next season.

Wilson is currently on loan at Championship side Derby County, where he has thoroughly impressed. The 22-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided six assists this season.

The Wales international scored against Leeds United in Derby’s play-off semi-final win on Wednesday night. He is now set for a Wembley trip as he aims to get the Rams promoted.

But when he returns to Liverpool, his future remains unclear. Will Klopp use him, sell him or loan him out again?

If Shaqiri leaves, this would open up a vacancy for Wilson. The left-footed winger has proven his quality in the Championship and could get his chance with the Reds.
