Liverpool have begun talks over the potential signing of Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze, according to the Mirror, who believe that the German could be available for as little as £20 million. The World Cup winner was wanted on Merseyside when he left Bayern Munich last summer, but Gotze has failed to convince Thomas Tuchel since rejoining his former club.
The 24-year-old has made just nine Bundesliga starts this campaign and could be available in the summer as he remains unable to recreate the kind of form that he produced in his first spell at Dortmund.
Another summer transfer target could be Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, say the Express, after the Reds had a bid worth £7 million turned down last summer. Now, Jurgen Klopp is prepared to offer up to £10 million for the 20-year-old who still has four years left on a deal he signed last summer.

Tipped for big things in the future, Chilwell has featured in just three Premier League games to date despite Leicester’s woeful form and could consider a move in the summer as a result, with Arsenal also believed to be interested.
Such a flurry of recent transfer activity could be accurate too, as Jurgen Klopp has told fans that the club has already begun working on summer signings in an interview with the Liverpool Echo as Klopp revealed:
“We are in talks with different people – players, agents, all that stuff. Not a lot of decisions have been already made at this point. Why should they at this stage? But we are on the way. At the end I’m sure we will have a really good squad. We already have a good squad and a few more good players will make it even better. There’s a good base.”
After failing to make any signings in January, with many fans and pundits saying that such inaction was partly responsible for the team’s poor performances in the first month of 2017, the news is sure to excite fans.
