Liverpool round-up: Southampton's Ryan Bertrand linked; Philippe Coutinho injury boost; Andre Wisdom to be sold

The Mirror claim that Liverpool could turn their attentions to Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand as they look to find a regular first choice option in the position, with Alberto Moreno set to be sold this summer and James Milner not seen as a long term solution to the problem.

The 27-year-old is thought to be keen on a move away from St. Mary’s in the upcoming transfer window and could leave this weekend’s opponents for a return to Stamford Bridge with Chelsea also monitoring the England international, or he could move to Anfield and join some of his international team-mates.

In a massive boost for Liverpool’s hopes of a top four finish to persuade the likes of Bertrand to join them, Philippe Coutinho has revealed that he does not have any serious injury after being withdrawn in the opening minutes of Monday’s game against Watford. The forward told the club website:

“The injury is much better. It was a hard tackle and what happened was a dead leg. It caused a lot of pain in the area I was hit, but the pain has reduced now. At the moment, I am feeling very well – the first couple of days were the most painful. Of course, when you have to come out of such an important game like this one, and when you leave that early, it frustrates you, but thanks to God it was nothing major – just a strong tackle.”

The Brazilian has been influential for the Reds and his substitution on Monday sparked fears that he could miss the final and crucial fixtures of the season as the side look to secure a top four finish and return to Champions League football after only one season in the competition since Rafa Benitez left the club.

Regardless of where Liverpool are competing next season, it seems that one man is set to leave the club, as the Liverpool Echo claim that Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Bundesliga have been told that it will cost them £4.2 million to make the loan agreement for defender Andre Wisdom a permanent switch.

Now 23-years-old, the right-back, who can also play in central defence, has played 20 games on loan for the Austrian champions this season and looks set to make more appearances in one season there than he has in his whole Liverpool career, with 22 first team displays to his name.
