Liverpool are nearing an announcement of their second major signing of the transfer window as Sky Sports confirmed that the club are in talks with relegated side Hull City over an £8 million transfer of left-back Andrew Robertson. The deal could rise to £10 million with add-ons.

The Scottish international earned praise for his displays for the Tigers even in spite of their relegation and he now looks set to compete with James Milner for a starting spot in the Liverpool side. Left-back has been a problem position for the Reds, but they may now have secured the option they needed.

He will soon join up with the Liverpool squad if a deal is completed, which will see him training alongside the likes of Divock Origi. However, Turkish source Fotospor claim that Fenerbahce made an enquiry into the striker’s availability before being put off by the high price set by the Reds.

The 22-year-old made just 14 Premier League starts for the club last season, despite making a further 20 substitute appearances in the league, and may not be happy about spending so much time on the bench for another season. It does seem highly unlikely that he will be allowed to leave though given his huge potential.

Another player who could be on his way to Anfield is Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe. French outlet RMC Sport claim that both the Reds and their city rivals Everton are interested in the young Frenchman, who can play in central defence or at left-back.

The Parisians are reportedly reluctant to allow him to leave the French capital and are keen to ensure that he remains part of their squad, though the lure of the Premier League may encourage the player to consider his options even despite breaking into the first team under Unai Emery last season.
