Sadio Mane has undergone an operation on his knee which will keep him out for the rest of the season, claim the Guardian. The Senegal international has damaged his meniscus, as Luis Suarez did shortly before he left the Merseyside club, and faces an eight-week recovery time.
Having gone under the knife on Tuesday, Mane will now set his sights on being fully fit to return to pre-season training with the rest of the first team in the summer after what can be considered a hugely successful debut campaign on a personal level with his new club since joining from Southampton.
Mane is rapidly becoming one of the most popular figures at Anfield but he still has some way to go before he will match Steven Gerrard. The club legend and icon is set for his first managerial role, according to Sky Sports. with the club’s under 18s side, which he will take on at the start of next season.
The former captain has been working with the academy since he joined the club as a coach earlier this year and will now step in as boss of his own side after the departure of former under 23s manager Michael Beale has led to a re-jig of the coaching set-up within the youth department.
The Daily Mail claim that both AC Milan and Inter Milan are monitoring the situation of left-back Alberto Moreno as the Spaniard edges nearer and nearer the exit door, having been left out of the starting eleven against Stoke last weekend with Trent Alexander-Arnold and a change of formation preferred to starting the former Sevilla man.
It seems highly likely that Jurgen Klopp will look to cash in on him this summer given that he has clearly not been able to trust the attacking minded full-back this season, but his sale could depend upon whether or not Liverpool make the top four and if a replacement can be found early on in the transfer window.
