Liverpool round-up: PSG prepare huge Coutinho bid; Keita ready to force move; Mane injury update

Liverpool fans may have cause for concern as French outlet Le10Sport claim that French giants Paris Siant-Germain are preparing to launch a €80 million (£70 million) move for playmaker Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian is yet to return to pre-season training with the club after some of the squad returned to Melwood this week.

It is unclear at present how the Reds will react to the interest from France in their coveted number ten, but it is unlikely that they will allow Coutinho to leave unless he forces a move. Jurgen Klopp has already outlined his desire to play the attacking midfielder in a central role next season and will be keen to stick with that plan.

However, Red Bull Leipzig are in a similar position with Liverpool target Naby Keita. Director of Football Ralf Rangnick has once again insisted that the German team, who finished second in the Bundesliga last season, will not sell any of their key players with the Daily Mail quoting him as saying:

“We will definitely not be letting any key players go. There’s nothing that will make us budge.”

Despite that, the reports indicate that Keita will hold talks with his club next week as he may look to force a move away from Germany as the Guinean is keen on a move to Merseyside. Liverpool have made him their top target in midfield, but this deal seems that it could be a difficult one to pull off.

In better news for Reds fans, the club website has confirmed that Sadio Mane is on track with his rehabilitation and is likely to rejoin the team in pre-season in just ten days time. That will mean that he will sit out friendlies against Tranmere Rovers and Wigan Athletic but will soon be back in contention.

The Senegal forward has progressed well after a knee injury sustained in the Merseyside derby towards the end of the 2016/17 season. Jurgen Klopp will be desperately hoping to have him available from the start of the season with a crucial Champions League qualifier to handle in August.
