Despite rumours suggesting that Liverpool could be set to mount a move for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Liverpool Echo insist that the Reds interest is not yet that strong. The local newspaper suggests that, while the club are monitoring his contract negotiations with the Gunners, they have not yet made any kind of approach.
The England international has one year left on his contract at the Emirates and at £25 million would not come cheap, which may deter Jurgen Klopp and co. In addition, it’s unclear whether the club could offer the 23-year-old regular game time given the wealth of options available to Klopp in midfield.
Those options could be slimmer in a few weeks time though as Turkish source Fotomac say that Trabzonspor could be the latest club to make a move for Lucas Leiva. The Brazilian is for sale for as little as £5 million after a decade of service at Anfield.
Lucas played a bit-part role last season for the Reds, often filling in in midfield or defence. Now, he could move to Turkey in order to revive his career as a key player for the club, following in the footsteps of the likes of Martin Skrtel who currently plays in the same league.

Another player set to depart Merseyside in search of regular first team football is Joe Gomez. The Mirror claim that the young defender is preparing to accept a loan move to Premier League new boys Brighton & Hove Albion after Chris Hughton offered him the opportunity to play regularly.
Gomez spent a year on the sidelines after a serious knee injury and only regained fitness in the second half of the 2016/17 season. Now, he is looking for regular football in order to continue his recovery to full match fitness in an attempt to ensure that he has a long term future at Liverpool.
