The Sun believe that Chelsea prodigy Dominic Solanke has told close friends that he is hoping to complete a move to Anfield in the summer when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires. The England under 21 international reportedly told Chelsea that he wanted £50,000 per week to extend his contract, but has now lowered his demands and will choose Liverpool ahead of Celtic.
The highly rated striker has a good track record through the different youth stages at Chelsea, and a transfer fee would be set by a tribunal. It’s estimated that such a move would cost the Reds around £8 million, though it could well be worth it if he can reach his full potential.
Another player with huge potential is Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, but Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce has suggested that Liverpool’s interest in the German has cooled since the summer when the German club refused to discuss the potential sale of their star man.
The 21-year-old has been a regular for the Bundesliga team this season and played the full 90 minutes last night as his side went down to a home defeat to Fiorentina in the first knock-out round of the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group.
There has been a boost for Jurgen Klopp in terms of his current squad, though, with Dejan Lovren and Marko Grujic both nearing returns to fitness as the manager told the club website:
“Hopefully, especially Dejan, [they] can come back to training after when we come back on Sunday, that would be great. Same for Marko Grujic, who is close but not close enough to make the sessions with us, and it’s not nice for a player when you’re close but you see this, so do your stuff and train [with the group] in the moment you can do it again.”
The first team are currently away at a training camp in Spain, but the duo did not travel to focus on their recoveries with all eyes on the trip to Leicester City for a Monday night fixture.
