In sensational news, respected French newspaper L’Equipe say that Liverpool could be one of several clubs preparing a move for Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe after the 18-year-old’s emergence as a teenage superstar this season. The French international recorded 26 goals and 14 assists in 44 games.
The likes of Real Madrid and Arsenal are also expected to be interested. It could be a strange move for Liverpool though, given the club’s reluctance to pay big fees in the past few years. With Mbappe likely to command at least double the club’s record fee, it may be a shock to see him head to Anfield.
A more realistic target could be Southampton’s Dusan Tadic, a player whom The Times say could be considered by Liverpool. Despite the collapse of relations with Southampton over a move for Virgil Van Dijk, it seems that it has not put the Reds off potentially trying to sign another Saints player.
The 28-year-old creative midfielder is believed to have a £13 million release clause in his contract which would make him available as a bargain. The Serbian is also thought to be keen on a potential move having been frustrated by Claude Puel’s defensive style over the last season.
Another option in attack could be Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the Express indicate that the Reds would be prepared to pay Arsenal’s asking price of £40 million. That comes as a surprise given that the former Southampton man is entering into the last year of his contract.
Having scored an impressive solo goal for England against Scotland on Saturday evening, Arsenal are thought to be desperate to secure his future on a long term contract. Instead, he may well join some of his England team-mates in a move to Merseyside.
