Former Ajax and Inter Milan manager Frank De Boer has sensationally revealed that he turned down the opportunity to become Liverpool manager following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish in 2012 as he told the Daily Mail:

“I would love to manage here. but the project has to be right. I told Liverpool I was honoured but I was only one year in at Ajax, it was too soon. I needed to achieve more, and I did.”

The Dutchman impressed during his time in Amsterdam but failed to live up to expectations in Italy and lasted only a few months at the San Siro and is now said to be keen to test his skills in the Premier League.

There may still be hope for the Reds in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s teen sensation Christian Pulisic after Dortmund CEO Hans -Joacim Watzke told Ruhr Nachrichten, as translated by the Liverpool Echo and 90min:

“Especially in the offensive area, we tend to have too many players. Something can happen there.”

That could lead to the potential sale of the 19-year-old winger from the United States, who has found fine form with his electric displays full of pace and energy on the flanks in the Bundesliga this season, having had a bid for him turned down in the summer.

He would provide competition and support for Philippe Coutinho, who this week collect his Samba Gold trophy for the best Brazilian player in Europe, say the Daily Mail.

Coutinho saw off competition from the likes of La Liga stars Neymar, Marcelo and Casemiro and follows in the footsteps of the Barcelona striker, Kaka and Thiago Silva in having won the award in recent years after his inspired form in the Premier League for Liverpool over the 2016 calendar year.
