Goal claim that Liverpool have abandoned their earlier attempts to bring German midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by the form of his current midfielders, and in particular the displays of captain Jordan Henderson in a holding midfield role.
That has meant that the German manager is no longer prepared to break the bank to challenge a number of top European clubs for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, who was born in Syria before moving to Germany, who he now represents as an international.
One potential summer target is Real Betis left-back Riza Durmisi, who addressed the growing speculation in a press conference as quoted by the club’s website and translated by the Daily Star and Sport Witness as he said:
“It means I’m playing well, but it isn’t something I’m interested in. What interests me is when the team plays well and wins. That’s what I like. But when Liverpool and other big clubs show interest, of course it’s good, but the main thing for me is Betis.”
The 23-year-old Danish international has been a revelation for the mid-table La Liga side, shining on the left side of defence for the Seville side, and has a release clause of just £17 million in his current contract which would be realistic for Liverpool to trigger if they do opt to make a move.
Two men on the way back to Anfield much sooner are Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho as the club forked out to arrange a private jet to bring them back to Merseyside immediately after they finished playing for the Brazilian national team against Paraguay in the early hours of Wednesday morning, say the Daily Mail.
Coutinho was on the scoresheet as both forwards started against both Uruguay and Paraguay as the Brazilian side became the first country to qualify for the 2018 World Cup after hosts Russia with their latest victory. In both fixtures, the duo were withdrawn in the final five minutes.
