With a move for Chelsea teen sensation Dominic Solanke reportedly under threat due to interest from Bayern Munich, the Daily Mail claim that the club are casting their eye over Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, who has impressed in his appearances for the reigning Premier League champions since he completed a move from Birmingham City.
The 20-year-0ld has scored once and managed three assists in the Premier League this season despite making only six starts under Claudio Ranieri. His pace and drive would certainly fit the Jurgen Klopp mould but he may be a far more expensive option than Solanke once a transfer fee is included with three years left on Gray’s contract.
An alternative could be Brazilian winger Malcolm, as the Liverpool Echo report on claims linking the 19-year-old with the club. The youngster can play anywhere across a front three but prefers a role on the right-hand side, and has scored six goals and registered four assists in 30 games this season.
Having joined Ligue Une side Bordeaux last January for £4.25 million, he could be available and the Reds may be able to negotiate a reasonable fee for the Brazilian, but it seems that any deal remains some way off with Manchester United also linked.
A host of Premier League clubs have also been linked with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, but sporting director Piero Ausilio has revealed that the Italian club do not want to sell as Metro and Liverpool Echo translate quotes after Gazetta Dello Sport reported on interest in the Croatian, saying:
“I do not think it is either Perisic’s or our intentions for him to leave. He is part of a massive project and we do not want to sell our players. We cannot envisage an Inter without Perisic. We are not going to get rid of our best players.”
The 28-year-old has a good track record at in both Germany and Italy, but given these quotes it seems unlikely that he will be making a move to England anytime soon.
