In what could become a marquee signing, the Express claim that Liverpool bosses will hold talks with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette next week as they mount a bid for the Frenchman who has also been linked with the likes of Atlético Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal as it looks likely that his prolific spell in Ligue Un could come to an end this summer.
The forward usually plays in a central role but has also played on the right in the past and could become the talisman to lead the Liverpool attack next season as they return to the Champions League after three years away from the competition, with neither Divock Origi or Daniel Sturridge convincing in that role this season.
An alternative could be a player less of a reputation but just as prolific as the Mirror report that Liverpool and Everton are preparing to do battle for Anderlecht’s 26-year-old striker Lukasz Teodorczyk, who scored 30 goals in 53 games for the Belgian outfit this season after joining from Dynamo Kyiv on a four year deal last season.
Anderlecht are prepared to allow him to leave but only if his £10 million price tag is met, which no club has satisfied yet, with Sevilla also interested but have eased off after their opening bid for the forward was rejected for falling short of this valuation.
The news comes as it appears that the Reds could miss out on another top target as Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk nears a move to Manchester City for £60 million, rejecting offers from both Liverpool and Chelsea according to the Mirror.
The Dutch international has been in demand but could have been convinced by the finances on offer in the blue half of Manchester, with the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola also likely to have played a part in convincing him to reject the option to move to Anfield.
