According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are keen to sign £14million-rated midfielder Danny Drinkwater from Premier League Champions Leicester City. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly – and understandably – impressed with the Englishman’s contribution to Leicester’s title triumph and had his analysis team at Anfield compile statistics on his performances. After a stellar season, in which Drinkwater tallied seven assists, the Reds head coach is likely to be impressed with the figures that were put in front of him.
Is this transfer likely to happen? We don’t think so.
Naturally, Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is expected to resist any attempts to entice away his key players this summer and the carrot stick of Champions League football is likely to prove to much to resist. Furthermore, the fact Drinkwater is a Manchester boy, having started his career at rivals United, could prove a deal breaker. A move to a bigger club could be something the 26-year-old looks for in the future, but in the short-term it is unlikely that he will leave the King Power Stadium.
