Liverpool round-up: Keita release clause claims; move made for Atletico forward; no Coutinho bid

In huge news for Liverpool, Italian super agent Giovanni Branchini has told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that Red Bull Leipzig central midfielder Naby Keita has a release clause in his contract which will come into force next summer. He said, as translated by Gianluca Di Marzio and the Express:

“I like him a lot, he plays like Kanté but with more technical skills. He’s got a release clause for next year and I think he won’t be sold this year. But if he were to leave, he’d go to Liverpool for me.”

The Guinean international is thought to be keen on a move to Merseyside and may look to force the transfer this summer, but the Bundesliga outfit have no intention of selling their key man. Jurgen Klopp is clearly desperate to get his man, but at least it could be possible next summer if not this year.

A more surprising target has also emerged in French outlet Foot Mercato, who say that Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa is attracting interest from Anfield. The 22-year-old scored eight goals and registered 11 assists in 47 appearances last season, though only 17 of those came as starts.

The reports claim that Liverpool are preparing an offer in the region of £50,000 per week on a five year deal, but that the Argentinean is hoping to secure a higher wage of at least £75,000 per week should he leave the Spanish capital. Atletico may be reluctant to sell this summer due to their transfer ban in the current window but could consider an offer worth €28 million (£25 million).

In other positive news, the Daily Mail believe that there has been no offer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain for Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho. The number ten returned to pre-season training on Tuesday after a prolonged summer break and will now have his sights set on the 2017/18 season.

It’s thought that Liverpool would reject any approach from the French club with neither player nor club looking to reach any kind of agreement, but PSG’s interest may have led to a change in approach from the attacking midfielder if a lucrative offer was made.
