Jurgen Klopp has provided a boost for fans as they look towards the run in at the end of the season as he revealed to the club website that key duo Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson are nearing returns from injury, saying:

“[They are] better, but not good enough for the weekend. With Jordan, it was clear from the beginning that it’s not a fixed time until he is back. We have to wait until he feels absolutely nothing, that’s how it is. That’s what we are still waiting for…

“With Adam, it is a little bit easier to say. I am pretty sure after the Crystal Palace game, he will probably be in normal training and that means then [for Watford] he is in the squad or we can think about him then.”

Their returns can’t come soon enough for the Reds, with a number of absences through injury highlighting Liverpool’s lack of squad depth which will be a concern with the pressure for a top four place continuing to grow with both Manchester clubs just behind in the league table at present.

However, they could have more depth in defence in the form of returning loanee Mamadou Sakho, according to the Liverpool Echo. Klopp also spoke to confirm that Crystal Palace do not have an option to make the transfer of the Frenchman permanent in the summer, but sources at the local newspaper still believe that it’s unlikely that Sakho will be at the club come the close of the summer transfer window in September.

The central defender has produced some dominant displays for Sam Allardyce and co. since moving to London and has rapidly become a fan favourite for the Eagles, but there are a number of clubs from both the Premier League and from abroad that are monitoring the progress of the former Paris Saint-Germain captain.

Another player in demand is 19-year-old striker Henry Onyekuru, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Sevilla, Southampton, Bournemouth, Celtic, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bruges also scouting the Nigerian. The Daily Mail say that Liverpool have joined that list after the youngster has scored 17 goals in 33 games this season in Belgium for KAS Eupen.

The striker is open to an exit and tried to force a move to Celtic in January, but his current club are holding out for a fee of at least £6.8 million in order to allow their prized asset to leave.
