Despite already adding Mohamed Salah to their squad this summer, the Daily Star believe that Liverpool are still on the look out for further additions down the flanks as they are scouting Germany starlet Max Meyer at the European under-21 Championships in Poland.
The 21-year-old continues to impress with Schalke in Bundesliga but scored just two goals last season in 39 games. Usually playing in a central attacking midfield role, the youngster can also play in a wide role or as an out and out striker.
At the other end of the field, the Express say that Southampton are refusing to budge on their £70 million valuation of Virgil Van Dijk. Despite having officially withdrawn their interest in the commanding central defender, it seems that negotiations are ongoing over the Dutchman.

Even after signing Mohamed Salah for a fee which could prove to be a club record if all clauses are activated, that kind of fee would be more than double the existing record of £35 million for Andy Carroll. It may be a steep price to pay but it could also be worthwhile for the Reds to what has been a leaky defence for several seasons. In Van Dijk, they could at least be assured of a reliable addition.
One key problem area for the side has been at left-back, but the Liverpool Echo insist that the club will not be open to any kind of swap deal. They cite speculation suggesting a swap deal with Napoli for full-back Faouzi Ghoulam in exchange for Alberto Moreno.
It is almost certain that the Spaniard has played his last game for the club but the Reds would seemingly prefer money for the former Sevilla defender. As such, an addition on the left of defence may not happen early on in the transfer window.
