One of the low points of the Reds’ season was the team’s FA Cup defeat at Anfield to Championship side Wolves, but the Sun report that Jurgen Klopp may look to make a move for one of the architects of that result in the form of pacey winger Helder Costa, despite having only joined Paul Lambert’s side in January for £13 million from Benfica.
The Portuguese star has lit up the second division this season on loan before making the deal permanent, but is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League in the summer and will try to force Wolves’ hand into making a quick profit if a big club comes calling.
Another potential summer addition could be Lyon striker Maxwel Cornet as Italian outlet Calciomercato report that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old. Usually figuring on the left hand side of a front three, the French under 21 international has scored six goals in 33 games so far this season.
Such an addition would add strength in depth to the Liverpool attack, with the youngster likely to be competing with Philippe Coutinho for a starting berth if the club do make a move. However, the deal could depend on the price that the Ligue Une side demand for their asset.
A deal for an even younger player could be on the cards too, with the Sunday Express reporting that Liverpool are ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City in their attempts to sign 16-year-old Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon. The left-back, who was born in May 2000, has scored four goals in his 19 appearances in the Championship this season.
A current England under 19 international, he has held his own in the Championship this season and could be set for a move to the top flight, where he could seemingly make an immediate challenge for a first team role at Anfield.
