Liverpool have had a bid rejected by Roma for former Chelsea midfielder Mohamed Salah, according to Sky in Italy. The Egyptian winger, who was heavily linked with a move to Anfield when he instead moved to London, made next to no impact in the capital before returning to Serie A.
Now back in Italy, Salah is exceeding expectations with his pace and energy down the wing, which have made him a real asset for his side. He would be an obvious candidate to fit in on the wing in Jurgen Klopp’s system, but the Reds will have to pay up to secure their man.
However, the club have already shown that they will not be taken for granted in this transfer window, as the Liverpool Echo report that the club’s interest in Fulham’s teen sensation Ryan Sessegnon has been withdrawn after he appeared to hesitate over a move to Anfield when interest from Tottenham became known.
The left-back could have been a long-term option of the left-hand side of defence but it seems unlikely now that he will fit that role, with a move to Spurs now likely and Liverpool already looking elsewhere.
One man who appears to be going nowhere is striker Danny Ings, as the club have rejected enquiries into the former Burnley man, if reports in the Daily Mail are to be believed. The news comes after almost two whole seasons on the sidelines with back to back serious knee injuries which have blighted his time on Merseyside to date.
Jurgen Klopp’s retains confidence in Ings, though, and the player himself is determined to fight his way back into the first team when he regains full fitness over the summer. It seems likely that he will be going nowhere over the coming months, ready to play a role in the Liverpool squad next season.
