With speculation continuing to circle regarding the future of Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Daily Star report that the Gunners will not sell the Liverpool target this summer. They say that the Emirates club would prefer to force the player to see out the remaining year of his contract, rather than sell him to a direct rival.

The England international will be cautious of burning his bridges in London given that he will need regular game time in order to make the England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but is believed to be keen on the move. What is now clear though, is that Arsene Wenger and co. will not make any deal easy.

In more concerning news, French newspaper L’Equipe have confirmed that they believe Paris Saint-Germain are considering Philippe Coutinho as one of their top transfer targets this summer. The Brazilian is thought to be their second choice target behind Monaco’s Kylian M’Bappe, with the club desperate to make a marquee signing this summer.

Having finished second in Ligue Un behind Monaco last season, the club’s owners are keen to make a statement of intent with their transfer business this summer, particularly after the humiliating defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League. Whether or not such a move would appeal to Liverpool’s number ten is unclear.

One player going nowhere is young right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as he has put pen to paper on a new long term contract at Anfield, the club have confirmed. The 18-year-old made 12 first team appearances last season and is now keen to push on as he said:

“It’s exciting, a proud moment for me and my family. I’m excited for the good times ahead, hopefully. But I’ve said before, the hard work definitely doesn’t stop now. It’s only just beginning. Hopefully I’ll have many more moments like last season in this season and the seasons to come.”

Alexander-Arnold will now be keen to push Nathaniel Clyne, the regular first choice at right-back. However, he could also face competition from John Flanagan, another local boy to come through the ranks, after he returned from a disappointing loan spell at Burnley last season.
