The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool have made an initial approach to Red Bull Leipzig over striker Timo Werner, who made his debut for the German national team against England last night. The 21-year-old has scored 14 goals and made six assists in 25 games this season for his side.

Werner, usually an out and out centre forward but also capable of playing on the right flank or as a number ten if required, could be an interesting addition if Jurgen Klopp opts to pursue a potential deal for the youngster, who could replace Daniel Sturridge in the summer.

Another potential target is Atletico Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez, say Spanish radio station Cadena SER, as the Reds prepare to do battle with the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and his home town club of Olympique Marseille.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Alaves, managed by former Liverpool defender Mauricio Pellegrino, and has been a regular in the north of Spain, impressing many with his maturity and attacking threat in the process. Brother of fellow Atletico defender Lucas Hernandez, he has four years left on his contract.

Back at the club, captain Jordan Henderson has joined Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the squad for a training camp in Tenerife whilst many of the team are away for international duty, say Sky Sports. The midfielder has been out of action with an injury for a number of weeks and was forced to be unavailable for England selection.

The ex-Sunderland man has joined the likes of James Milner, Dejan Lovren and a number of other key players in the latest trip abroad with the rest of the team to build fitness mid-season.
