Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport have exclusively revealed that Liverpool had a €30 million (£26 million) bid for Lazio winger Keita Balde rejected before sealing a deal for Mohamed Salah. That would suggest that with negotiations stalling, the move was in real danger of falling apart, but it now seems unlikely that the Reds will return with another offer for the ex-Barcelona starlet.
The exciting winger offers many of the same attributes possessed by Salah. The arrival of the Egyptian, albeit at a slightly higher price, is an exciting one for fans who are already drooling at the prospect of his pace in attack alongside the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho.
The signing is also likely to be the final nail in the coffin of Alberto Moreno’s Anfield career by ending faint hopes that he would be given another opportunity further forward. Now, Football Whispers say that the club are mulling over an offer worth just under £13 million for the former Sevilla player.

That would see the club recoup what they paid for the 24-year-old. That said, it’s believed that there was a hope that his sale could bring in as much as £15 million with Southampton, Real Sociedad and Napoli also interested, with the latter having had a bid rejected in the region of £11 million already this summer.
Another player who could be on the move is fan favourite Lucas Leiva. The Brazilian could make a return to his former club Gremio in his home country and Gremio vice-president Odorico Roman is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:
“Lucas is a great player, it would be an impact signing. If there is a possibility in the financial conditions of Grêmio, and that also serves Lucas’ interest, it is possible that he may come. At this time, there is no negotiation. I talked to him a few days ago. At any moment we can make contact. He is also seeing the interest of other clubs.”

The holding midfielder, who filled in in defence at times this season, has one year left on his contract at Anfield but may be allowed to leave at a bargain price or even for nothing with it unlikely that he will form part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for next season.
