Sunday’s Liverpool transfer speculation seem to surround the future of German Emre Can. Reports from Italy, specifically Turin based newspaper Tuttosport, claim that Serie A champions Juventus have reached an agreement with the midfielder over personal terms. However, they do point out that Massimiliano Allegri’s side are yet to agree a fee with Liverpool.
That is where the Daily Mail step in, as they report that the Old Lady are preparing a £31 million bid for the 23-year-old as they seek to make him one of their most important summer additions. With just 11 months left on his existing contract, that could represent good value for Liverpool, but they are expected to reject any approach.
That stance has been supported by manager Jurgen Klopp, who rubbished the speculation as he told the Liverpool Echo that talks over a new deal for Can at Anfield were progressing well. Klopp said:
“You can imagine we’re involved in talks and we all feel good and confident in this moment. That means they’re not the worst talks but until anything is done or signed there’s nothing to say. Emre is a very important player for us. We don’t want to sell or lose players who are in our first line up or close to it. Emre is certainly one of them. We want to keep him and we’re having good talks.”
What lies ahead for the former Bayern Munich man is unclear, but he will rejoin the Liverpool squad for training on Monday after an extended summer break following the Confederations Cup.
In other news, French outlet Le 10 Sport name Liverpool as one of four sides interested in Monaco’s superstar teenager Kylian Mbappe. They have joined Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in the race, though Barcelona could also join them if Neymar leaves the Camp Nou.
It would be a hugely ambitious move for the Reds and at present it seems unlikely that the youngster will be going anywhere. Currently working with Monaco on his pre-season regime, the Ligue 1 champions have repeatedly insisted that their star man is not for sale.
