Liverpool return to the top but these fans savage James Milner on Twitter

James Milner had a disappointing game as Liverpool drew 0-0 at Old Trafford.

Liverpool failed to break down Manchester United at Old Trafford but they still returned to the top of the Premier League.

After drawing 0-0 with Man United, Liverpool leapfrogged Man City – who were not playing this weekend – to return to the summit.

But fans were hoping for a win and were disappointed by the attacking play offered by Jurgen Klopp’s men.

One player who was singled out for criticism after the game was James Milner, who started at right-back ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Milner spent a lot of the game attacking but the game plan was not able to break Manchester United down.

The 33-year-old sent in a total of 17 crosses and only three of those were met by a Liverpool player, according to Who Scored.

Without a target man, the plan of getting to the by-line and sending the ball into the box was unsurprisingly ineffective.

Milner also picked up a yellow card and his opposite number, Luke Shaw, was named man of the match by Sky Sports News.

Here are some things Liverpool fans had to say about Milner’s performance yesterday.
