Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez ahead of the January window. Hernan Crespo’s comments on Martinez in 2020 will utterly excite Liverpool fans.

Martinez, 24, has been on fire for Inter ever since he joined the club in 2018. In just three and a half seasons, Martinez has clocked up 153 appearances. In that time, he has scored 59 goals, and laying on 22 assists.

Last season, he formed a lethal partnership with Romelu Lukaku – as Antonio Conte guided Inter to the Serie A title. In October, the 35-time Argentina star signed a new contract at Inter, until June 2026.

CalcioMercato report that Martinez, who now earns £98,500 a week at Inter – is well-liked by Jurgen Klopp. It is said he would love to sign the striker, but that Inter say he is utterly not for sale.

Back in April 2020, ex-Chelsea and AC Milan striker Crespo said that Martinez is good enough to be the next Aguero. The Manchester City legend is one of his country’s best-ever strikers.

“Lautaro could be the next Kun Aguero,” Crespo told Mundo Albiceleste last year. “We are getting to see what Lautaro Martinez can do. He is more of a team player than Aguero, who at times disconnects.”

Crespo on Martinez: Liverpool would be bringing in a stunning player

Not only is he a winner, and one of Europe’s most-lethal attackers – but he would fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s system. Assists, creativity, and the ability to play as a false nine, or out wide.

If the Reds can eventually strike a deal for Martinez, whether that be next summer or in a couple of years – then it would be brilliant business. Still only 24, Liverpool do not have to rush into buying the Inter ace.
