Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Wolves star Adama Traore and will make a bid for the Spaniard if one of their esteemed front three departs – a player which Danny Murphy and Michael Owen have both raved about.
According to The Sun on Sunday (29/03; page 65), Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have been impressed by 24-year-old winger Traore – who has had a hand in 16 goals this season during his 43 league and cup appearances for Wolves this term.
The report claims that Liverpool will make a move for the ex-Barcelona attacker this summer if they lose either Mo Salah or Sadio Mane in the upcoming summer window – with Real Madrid said to be interested in the latter.
Traore, who was bought by Wolves for £18million (BBC) in the summer of 2018, has caught the eye of supporters and pundits alike for his performances in league and Europa – and both Murphy and Owen have spoke highly of the speed machine.
Murphy told TalkSPORT (January 27, 11:55am): “He is turning into a superstar and they would do well keeping hold of him in the summer. When you get him one-on-one, you have to double up on him. I don’t think many fullbacks can cope with him.”
Owen told Wolves’ website: “If you have the attributes that he has, i.e. raw pace and strength, then you really just need to fine tune your game in other areas and you can be a real threat – and that’s what Traore now is, he’s going to scare any team.”
TBR’s view – Such praise should convince Liverpool to sign Traore
Traore has been one of the most-improved players from this season’s Premier League campaign, producing moments of magic when an excellent Wolves side have come unstuck. Three of his six goals have even come against Manchester City.
Power, skill, strength, the ability to cut inside or reach the byline and a degree of strength in the air, Traore has it all. Now, it is about fine-tuning his talents – something which Klopp has done with Salah and Mane.
Traore can be a superstar at Anfield.
