Liverpool reportedly want £21m star compared to Ronaldinho, fans should be buzzing - TBR View

Liverpool are eyeing Portugal international Renato Sanches, according to reports.

French outlet Onze Mondial claimed earlier in July that both Liverpool and Arsenal want the Lille midfielder.

And Fabrizio Romano recently told Anfield Watch that Sanches has “always been on the list for Liverpool”.

And Reds fans should be excited about reported interest in the 23-year-old, who has been sensational in recent months.

Renato Sanches: Back to his best

Sanches burst onto the scene in 2015-16 with Benfica, helping them to a domestic double.

He then made the Portugal squad for Euro 2016 and helped his nation win the tournament.

Sanches moved to Bayern Munich that summer, but his time at the Allianz Arena sadly wasn’t the most fruitful.

While on their books, he also spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Swansea, then in the Premier League.

However, Sanches was far from his best that year and failed to make much of an impact for the Swans.

After three years on Bayern’s books, he became Lille’s record signing, and his career took off once again.

Indeed, Sanches helped Christophe Galtier’s side win their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years last season.

Comparisons with Wijnaldum and Ronaldinho

Sanches is a versatile player who’s comfortable in central, attacking, defensive, and wide roles in midfield.

His main attributes include physical strength, passing ability, and being composed in possession.

Over the years, fans have compared him to the likes of Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Georginio Wijnaldum and even Ronaldinho.
