Liverpool reportedly target Konstantinos Tsimikas at bargain £7m price

Liverpool reportedly remain interested in a deal to sign Olympiakos defender Kostantinos Tsimikas this summer, according to reports in Greece.

The Reds have an outstanding left-back option in the form of Andrew Robertson but the strength in depth in that position has often been called into question.

Now it seems as though Tsimikas might be the answer.

FOS are reporting that Tsimikas is on a four-man shortlist to strengthen the left-back position at Liverpool this summer. His price-tag is likely to be in the region of £7 million. Indeed, that is the number reported by Gianluca Di Marzio when it was recently reported that Nice had agreed a deal to sign the player, reports which have so far failed to manifest.

If that is indeed the right price, it will be a huge bargain compared to what Liverpool were reportedly prepared to pay earlier this year.

SDNA reported in April that Liverpool were keen with the player carrying a £22 million price-tag at that time.

However, the financial impact of the global health crisis has seen the Greek international’s value shrink dramatically and Liverpool could now get him for a fraction of the price.

It would certainly be a shrewd piece of business, at that fee, for Liverpool to bring in the talented defender.

He would provide cover for Robertson in a hectic schedule and at a very reasonable price. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool do end up bringing the Olympiakos player to Anfield this summer.
