Liverpool are in further talks with Crystal Palace over the prospect of an emotional return to Selhurst Park for Nathaniel Clyne, according to the Daily Mail.
They report that the £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender could be set to go back to the club where he came through as young player, having grown up nearby in Stockwell.
The report says that the Eagles are looking for a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who left to join Manchester United this summer and Clyne is among the options.
Reece James of Chelsea is apparently on Palace’s shortlist as well, but Clyne is a more realistic option – having lost his starting place to Trent Alexander-Arnold, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth.

Liverpool looked a little light at times when Clyne went out on loan earlier this year and his reintegration into the Reds setup during pre-season suggests there could be hope for him at Anfield.
But at 28, Clyne is likely to want to play and he won’t dislodge Alexander-Arnold at first choice – the youngster is arguably the best right back in the country now.
A return to his first club would perhaps be emotional, and there’s little doubt he would be first pick at Selhurst Park, given Wan-Bissaka’s departure – it could help him get his career back on track.
