Liverpool reportedly hoping to receive £22.4m for Marko Grujic this summer

Liverpool are reportedly hoping to receive €25 million (£22.4m) for the sale of Marko Grujic, although could be willing to sell the player for less.

That is according to a report from Area Napoli, who suggest the Serbian is being offered around Italian clubs.

The report suggests that the player’s agent Fali Ramadani is now trying to find Grujic a new club with Liverpool open to selling the player, currently out on loan at German side Hertha Berlin.

Napoli, Lazio and Milan have been offered the chance to sign the player, who Jurgen Klopp called a ‘big talent’ (Guardian) when he made him his first signing as Liverpool manager.

Whilst Liverpool are after £22.4 million, the report claims they could go as low as €15 million (£13.5m) to secure his exit.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Grujic, who has found some form at Hertha this season.

Indeed, it has been suggested in some circles that Grujic may have earned a second chance at Liverpool with the club unlikely to bring in expensive new signings amid the current global health crisis.

However, this report suggests Liverpool see Grujic as a potentially important asset to help raise funds for any transfer activity of their own this summer or to cover the costs of the current global health crisis’ financial impact.

If Liverpool can get £22.4 million for a player that cost a reported (BBC) £5.1 million in 2016, that is undoubtedly good business and should be applauded.

If Liverpool can add a buy-back or sell-on clause in any exit, then the Reds have pulled a blinder.
