Rangers have been dealt a hammer blow in this summer’s transfer market with The Express reporting that Jurgen Klopp will block any departure for Ryan Kent.
The 22-year-old was in magnificent form for the Gers last season and Steven Gerrard had hoped to re-sign the winger on loan.
That doesn’t look like happening now, however, with Klopp keen to give Kent every chance to impress him during pre-season.
The PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year showed some neat touches last night as the Reds ran out 6-0 winners over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.
During his season-long stint at Ibrox, he netted six goals and registered nine assists during 43 appearances, dazzling supporters with his trickery.
Kent adhered himself to the Rangers fans and this latest development will come as a disappointment to the club’s supporters.
This will represent a blow for Gerrard but another Liverpool youngster might provide a comfort blanket for the boss.
The Gers have taken Sheyi Ojo on loan for the 2019/20 campaign and Rangers will now hope that he can have a similar impact as Kent did.
Ojo netted his first competitive goal on his debut against St Joseph’s of Gibraltar this week and early signs are positive.
A very similar player to Kent, Ojo is tricky, likes to run at defenders and can score goals.
All might not be lost with regard to the man who so impressive for the Gers last season.
Failure to impress Klopp during pre-season may well see him go out on loan again and that could bode well for Rangers.
