Liverpool have confirmed on their official website that Rafael Camacho has completed a transfer to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

The 19-year-old was restricted to just two first-team appearances during his time at Anfield and has made the decision to leave the Champions of Europe.

Camacho joined Liverpool’s academy ranks at the end of the 2015/16 campaign and was a regular for the club’s Under-23s last season.

With his contract up next summer, the Reds were forced into doing a deal now in order to get more money for the player.

The Guardian reports that the youngster turned down Milan, Wolves and Schalke to return to his homeland; with Liverpool recouping £5m up front, with a further £2 million dependent on his achievements.

Camacho never scaled the heights during his Liverpool playing days and the club will hope he doesn’t turn out to be one that got away.

In the event he does kick on at his new club, the Reds have inserted a 20% sell-on clause, plus an option to buy him back.

Following the news of his departure, the club’s ardent supporters took to Twitter to offer the wide man their messages of support.

Here is a selection of what Liverpool fans were saying on the back of Camacho’s decision to leave Anfield:
