Liverpool take on Atletico Madrid tonight in what promises to be a Champions League cracker at Anfield.

The former Premier League champions won 3-2 two weeks ago and they’ll go in search of another three points.

Jurgen Klopp could see his team book a place in the knockout stages of the competition with all three points this evening.

Ahead of tonight’s clash, we looked at how Liverpool could line up against the La Liga champions.

Predicted Liverpool team to play Atletico:

In goal and back four

Alisson will take centre stage once again between the posts. He is firmly established as the club’s number one goalkeeper and will start.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are bang in form and will both start at full-back.

Virgil van Dijk pretty much picks himself and alongside him, Ibrahima Konate should get the chance to start.

Midfield

Injury problems have mounted up in recent weeks in the middle of the park.

Tonight, however, Klopp could be buoyed by the return of not one but two midfield players.

Thiago should start after a small injury, whilst Fabinho should also get the green light to play.

The £180,000-a-week midfielder has missed the last five games in all competitions but should start tonight for Liverpool against Atletico.

Jordan Henderson will, of course, captain the side.

In attack

Mohamed Salah picks himself and he will certainly start.

On the other side, it’s likely that Sadio Mane will get the nod to play.

Diogo Jota has worked hard in recent weeks and Klopp could give him the nod ahead of Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian has scored six times this season but could be on the bench for this one.
