‘No chance now’,’Jinxed us’: Liverpool fans react to Pele’s title prediction

Jurgen Klopp’s team are firmly in the hunt to claim the piece of silverware that has eluded them for several years.

Liverpool have been backed to go on and win the Premier League title by none other than Brazilian legend Pele.

Arguably the greatest player of all time made the claim in a birthday message posted on Twitter to Kenny Dalglish, which read:

Pele was a powerhouse of world football during his playing days.

His club career reaped 650 goals, whilst he bagged a further 77 for his country, winning three World Cups.

Liverpool relinquished top spot over the weekend following their goalless draw with Everton.

They will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Burnley on Sunday.

Pele, now 78, doesn’t think the Reds being edged off top spot will matter though, claiming to have backed Jurgen Klopp’s side from the beginning of the season.

Two months ago it had looked like a foregone conclusion that the Reds would claim their first Premier League crown.

The Reds held a seven-point cushion on Manchester City but have since been pegged back.

Pele might not be the best person to have predicted a Liverpool title win, however. Certainly not if you’re a Reds supporter anyway.

The man who was a tremendous player hasn’t quite had the same magic touch when it comes to making predictions.

Goal produced a run-down of Pele’s top ten prediction failures and the list includes some absolute belters.

 

He once predicted Nick Barmby to rival Zidane for ability and for an African team to win the World Cup by the year 2000.

Following his latest prediction, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react to Pele’s thoughts…
