Liverpool fans rave about performance of Pedro Chirivella against Everton

Liverpool defeated Everton 1-0 at Anfield to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup. Curtis Jones sealed the win for a young Reds side with a breathtaking goal in the second half.

It left the Toffees wondering what might have been. Carlo Ancelotti chose to play a full-strength side but failing to take their chances cost his team, with Liverpool’s youngsters flexing their potential.

With Jurgen Klopp’s side 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League, the German took the opportunity to utilise his academy ranks.

Nathaniel Phillips, Neco Williams and 16-year-old Harvey Elliott all caught the eye. Yasser Larouci also came off the bench and looked to show real quality too.

One man who was instrumental yesterday for the Reds was Pedro Chirivella. The 22-year-old was one of the older players utilised by Klopp and he showed real maturity in the middle of the park.

The Spaniard has only played one Premier League game in his career. Yesterday he shone against Gylfi Sigurdsson and Morgan Schneiderlin – both of whom have been around the top-flight for years.

Chirivella is out of contract in the summer and who knows what the future might hold for the youngster.
