Liverpool have rejected the chance to sign Crystal Palace left-back Patrick van Aanholt before the transfer deadline, according to The Sun (Live Blog, August 8, 10:49)
The Reds have added Adrian to their senior ranks during the summer window as a backup to first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
It does seem perhaps surprising that Jurgen Klopp has not added to his ranks in order to remain competitive with their rivals.

The German boss clearly rates his squad highly and it doesn’t look like any incoming business will now be done.
A 28-year-old, van Aanholt would have provided cover for Andy Robertson, but Klopp isn’t convinced the player matches all of the criteria to become their latest signing.
The Dutchman was a regular in Roy Hodgson’s first-team last season, playing 39 times in all competitions.
Following Alberto Moreno’s departure during the summer it will leave Liverpool without a left-back to deputise for Robertson.
James Milner has filled in on the left-hand side previously but that might prove problematic going forwards for Klopp.

The Eagles performer would have been a decent signing. He wouldn’t have broken the bank and he currently gets paid £55,000-a-week at Selhurst Park.
His all-action style of bombing up and down the left-hand side would have been perfect in Klopp’s system but for whatever reason, the opportunity has now been snubbed.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pursue another left-back option prior to the 5pm cut-off.
