Liverpool are searching for a new defensive midfield option this summer.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday morning that Liverpool are in talks with a midfielder from outside of the Premier League.
Interestingly, Dean Jones has also claimed that Liverpool have now been offered the chance to sign a midfielder from the Bundesliga.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Jones has been discussing Manu Kone, and he says that the Frenchman has been offered to numerous Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

Manu Kone has been offered to Liverpool
Jones shared what he knows about Kone.
“Manu Kone is good, but I don’t think he’s good enough to improve that midfield is he?”
“I was a bit underwhelmed by it to be honest. He (Kone) is being offered. Four or five clubs in the Premier League are being made aware of his availability at the moment, and Liverpool are one of them, so there is something in that from that sense.”
What type of player is Manu Kone?
Manu Kone is a name you may well have heard a lot about in recent years.
The midfielder has been seen as one of the top young talents in the game for quite a while, and he’s currently starring in the Olympics for France.
So, what type of player is Kone?
The Borussia Monchengladbach star is your archetypal defensive midfielder. He averaged two tackles per game in the Bundesliga last season. That stat only bettered in the Liverpool squad by Conor Bradley and Alexis Mac Allister – Kone even makes more tackles than Virgil van Dijk.
He would be a great option to sit at the base of that midfield, and he could well be the mystery player Liverpool are in talks to sign right now.
Kone could be just what the doctor ordered as Liverpool look to shore up that midfield.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as Kone has reportedly been offered to a number of Premier League clubs.
