Liverpool fans feel that they could make a move for Youri Tielemans after his latest comments to Sky Sports.
Liverpool bid pending?
Tielemans has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the Telegraph recently.
The Belgian is believed to be on Jurgen Klopp’s side’s radar, as they look at potential future additions to their squad.
And his latest comments have plunged his future at Leicester into further doubt.
“There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open,” he said.
“As long as I’m here I will give everything for the club. I’ve already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it’s a normal situation.
“There are talks going on – I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. We will see.”
The comments certainly appeared to excite a number of Liverpool fans, who now feel that a move could be possible.
Where would he fit?
Liverpool didn’t sign a central midfielder after the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum this summer, with Klopp insisting that he is happy with his current options.
Harvey Elliott has emerged as a genuine candidate to start regularly in the position, but his latest injury leaves a gap to be filled again.
With Liverpool not possessing huge amounts of funds to spend on new players, signing Tielemans could be difficult.
But his price-tag could be reduced by next summer, if he has still not penned a new contract, and that could play right into Liverpool’s hands.
