Clyne is paid £70k-a-week at Liverpool, according to Spotrac, and is currently on loan with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.

The 28-year-old has played 12 games for the Cherries and Goal suggest that they are keen to extend his stay at the Vitality Stadium.

West Ham’s interest could be telling as Clyne was born in Stockwell and that would see him move closer to home.

The Hammers are in a slightly more advanced position in the Premier League than the Cherries too and that could prove decisive.

TBR Verdict

Clyne is edging towards a crossroads in his career and the summer likes like a big one for the defender.

With the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, his chances of football at Anfield look remote at best.

Bournemouth is a club where he has pledged his loyalties to for the second half of this season and it remains to be seen whether he fancies sticking around.

West Ham are a bigger club than the Cherries and the chance to go and play regularly at the London Stadium could be a pull.

Clyne must make sure he gets his next move right.

At 28 he quite simply must be playing football on a frequent basis.

Switching to Bournemouth or West Ham would allow him to do just that.
