Liverpool hit Tranmere Rovers for six as the Champions of Europe kicked off their pre-season campaign in style.
Nathaniel Clyne got the ball rolling for Jurgen Klopp’s side with further goals coming from Rhian Brewster (2), Curtis Jones, Divock Origi and Bobby Duncan.
The Reds were at their free-flowing best against the newly-promoted League One side, who had no answer to Liverpool’s undoubted quality.

A mixture of experience and youth took to the field at Prenton Park and Klopp would have been delighted with such a performance in his team’s first friendly.
Clyne’s early goal set the tone and he offered a timely reminder of the quality which he possesses.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth. During his spell with the Cherries, he played 15 games for Eddie Howe’s team.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Clyne. There is every possibility that he could depart once again and all he can do in pre-season in try and stand out.

The Liverpool Echo has linked the defender with a move away from Merseyside and with Trent Alexander-Arnold established in the team that might be a possibility.
It would seem that the Liverpool faithful would like to see Clyne kept at Anfield.
Following his early strike against Tranmere, Reds supporters took to Twitter to offer their thoughts on what the future should hold for the £70k-a-week (Spotrac) right-back.
