Liverpool have suffered a blip in the past week as a 1-0 defeat to Napoli saw Jurgen Klopp’s side reach three games without a win in all competitions.
The Reds were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Chelsea last week and were then held to a draw in the Premier League against Maurizio Sarri’s side, before Lorenzo Insigne’s last-gasp goal in Naples condemned the Merseysiders to defeat against Napoli.
Klopp’s side were frustrated against an organised Italian outfit who defended in numbers and caused Liverpool plenty of problems when they pushed forward and, although it is the defensive performance that may grab the headlines, the attack is also a cause for concern.

Despite having Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on the field, the trio who inspired Liverpool all the way to the final last season, the Reds failed to hit a single shot on target for the first time since February 2006.
Overall, Klopp’s side had just four shots in total for the entire match and it is a statistic that will be extremely concerning ahead of this Sunday’s clash with a Manchester City side who concede very few opportunities.
The Citizens are a side extremely clinical in the final third and any missed opportunities against Pep Guardiola’s team could be punished, so Liverpool face an important few days in training as they attempt to bounce back from their European shame.
