Some news has emerged courtesy of TEAMtalk that the Reds might be willing to cut their losses on the midfielder.

If the door does close on Keita’s time on Merseyside, another could open for someone else.

Harry Wilson is currently on loan at Derby County where he has been deployed as a central midfielder on occasions by boss Frank Lampard.

The 22-year-old is more naturally a winger but has contributed 12 goals and four assists in 37 games for the Rams, featuring largely through the middle.

It does remain to be seen whether or not Jurgen Klopp will hand Wilson an opportunity at Anfield. Offloading Keita could make the decision a little easier for the German, however.

Wilson earns just £4k-a-week, according to Spotrac, so keeping him around the club is a no-brainer on those sort of wages.

Wilson’s form at Derby is deserving of a chance at Liverpool and it will be down the player to grasp it with both hands.

Keita’s departure could hand Wilson the Anfield lifeline that he desperately craves.
