Liverpool must unleash 'magic' gem tonight, could be 'better than Sancho in 2 years' - TBR View

Liverpool are in League Cup action on Tuesday evening, and Reds fans could potentially see the debut of a very talented youngster.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is to hand Kaide Gordon his first senior minutes away at Norwich.

The 16-year-old winger only joined the Reds academy in February this year but he’s already made waves at Kirkby.

Last season, Gordon made 13 Under-18 Premier League appearances, registering nine goals and three assists.

He subsequently played one game for the Under-23s late in the season, against Leicester – and got himself a goal.

Gordon is now fully in the U23s setup, and from his three PL2 appearances this season, he’s grabbed two goals and an assist.

Pep Lijnders, the Liverpool assistant manager, has high hopes for the youngster.

“I saw one player (in pre-season) and he had fire in each moment he touched the ball,” he told the Reds media team.

“He passed players like they were not standing there.

“I called Jurgen immediately and was like, ”Wow! We have a new player here!’

“He is a typical Liverpool winger because he has goals, he has speed. We really like him.”

U23s captain Tom Clayton also thinks Gordon has the X factor.

“You can judge people quite quickly, whether it’s their passing or their first touch,” he told Goal.com.

“It was the same with Harvey [Elliott] as it was with Kaide. It was ‘wow, he’s got something special.’

“I try to stay away from him in training! It’s tough, because he’s got that bit of magic in him.

“I’m just glad I don’t have to play against him every weekend!”

And some Liverpool fans have also been singing Gordon’s praises in recent months:

Hopefully the reports are true – Liverpool boss Klopp must unleash Gordon.

And fans are right to be buzzing about the prospect of the youngster making his senior debut – he looks like a star in the making.
