Liverpool must be mindful of former Everton star Gerard Deulofeu this weekend

Liverpool travel to London this weekend to take on Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Reds will be looking to take all three points in the capital to keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently two points behind the Citizens, and are unbeaten in 12 league games.

They have to work hard to beat Watford on Saturday, with Hornets flying high this term under Javi Gracia.

They sit seventh in the table having taken 20 points from 12 games, and look like an efficient side with some dangerous players.

One such player the Reds must be wary of is Gerard Deulofeu.

Liverpool must shackle the lively ex-Toffee

Liverpool’s defenders need to have their wits about them regarding Deulofeu.

In recent weeks, the Spaniard has looked very lively, scoring his first goal of the season against Huddersfield Town and then assisting Jose Holebas’ equaliser against Southampton.

Deulofeu had been nursing a foot injury in the early stages of the season, but appears to be getting up to full speed now.

The ex-Barcelona player tends to roam anywhere across the Watford frontline, so Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson must get tight to him.

The last thing they’d want is for an ex-Everton man to rip them apart, especially when they’ve been relatively solid this season.

Deulofeu, of course, represented the Toffees on loan for the 2013/14 season and then permanently between 2015-2017.
